Ramgarh, 13th December 2022: The MP MLA court on Tuesday awarded two sentences of five years each to Ramgarh MLA Mamta Devi under different sections. The court has also sentenced Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajeev Jaiswal to five years in the Arms Act.
In August 2016, in the famous Gola Goli case of Ramgarh, the MLA here, Mamta Devi, was sentenced in a hearing held through video conferencing. In this case, all 13 convicts, including BJP leader Rajeev Jaiswal, have been sentenced to five years. Along with this, a fine of Rs 10,000 has also been imposed.
Regarding this, the sentence was to be pronounced in the Hazaribagh MP MLA court on Tuesday at 11:45 am. The sentence was argued by advocate Virender Kumar on behalf of the defence side, and advocate Shankar Banerjee on behalf of the government.
Arguing on the statement of Virendra, Shankar Banerjee, appearing for the defence, said that the court has merit regarding the hearing, and the Supreme Court has nowhere said that the hearing cannot be held. In the court, the defence side cited that dozens of people were seriously injured in this incident, including police officers. It was a crime against society.
Earlier, there was a debate in the court for about half an hour. After this, the judge announced the sentence. Multiple supporters of MLA Mamta Devi and others were present on the premises outside the court as the hearing continued. At the same time, along with the MLA’s four-month-old son and eight-year-old elder daughter, her husband also came to the court. The court expressed displeasure over her husband and children coming to the premises and also asked them to move out immediately. A heavy police force was deployed so that the atmosphere on the campus did not deteriorate.
