Jaishankar and Sullivan Discuss Bilateral Ties in New Delhi
New Delhi, 17th June 2024: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held discussions with US National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan in New Delhi on Monday, covering a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues.
Expressing confidence in the robust advancement of the strategic partnership between New Delhi and Washington, Jaishankar welcomed Sullivan’s visit, marking the first high-level interaction since the re-election of the PM Modi-led NDA government.
Sullivan arrived in the national capital for the second meeting of the initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET). He also met with Indian counterpart Ajit Doval during his visit. Sources familiar with the discussions indicated that Sullivan, accompanied by Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and other senior officials, is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting, originally planned for February, was rescheduled to June 17-18. A joint statement is expected to be issued following the discussions, highlighting progress under the iCET framework and underscoring the importance of bilateral cooperation.
Earlier on June 14, PM Modi met US President Joe Biden during the G7 Summit in Italy, affirming India’s commitment to advancing global welfare.
“It’s always a pleasure to meet @POTUS @JoeBiden. India and the USA will keep working together to further global good,” PM Modi shared on X after the encounter.
