Jaipur’s Princess Diya Kumari Scores Decisive Victory in Rajasthan Assembly Elections
Jaipur, 3rd December 2023: In a resounding victory, Jaipur’s princess and BJP candidate Diya Kumari secured a decisive win from the Vidyadhar Nagar assembly seat in the Rajasthan Assembly elections. Defeating her nearest rival, Congress candidate Sitaram Aggarwal, by an impressive margin of 71,368 votes, Diya Kumari garnered 158,516 votes, as per data released by the Election Commission.
The daughter of late Brigadier Bhawani Singh and Maharani Padmini Devi, Diya Kumari made her entry into politics a decade ago. She was elected as an MLA from Sawai Madhopur in 2013 and emerged victorious in the Lok Sabha elections from Rajsamand in 2019. In the current assembly elections, the BJP expressed confidence in Diya Kumari, fielding her from the Vidyadhar Nagar assembly seat in Jaipur, and she has delivered a substantial victory.
The BJP has secured a significant majority in the Rajasthan Assembly elections, prompting discussions in political circles about Diya Kumari being a potential strong contender for the post of Chief Minister. While speculation continues about her role, Diya Kumari remains diplomatic, stating that the party’s top leadership and parliamentary board will decide the CM candidate. She expressed her commitment to accepting any responsibility entrusted to her by the party.
Diya Kumari received her early education from Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School, Jaipur, and Modern School, New Delhi. Subsequently, she pursued her graduation in decorative arts from the Chelsea College of Arts in London. As the only child of her parents, she was raised under the guidance of her grandmother, Rajmata Gayatri Devi.
