India is progressing rapidly: Bhagat Singh Koshyari

Pune, 9th December 2022: Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has asserted that India was progressing rapidly and expressed optimism that it could soon become the third largest economy in the world.

He also stressed that people in the government were working to provide more services to the industrialists.

Koshyari was speaking during the Annual Awards Ceremony 2022 of the Deccan Chamber of Commerce, Industries & Agriculture, Pune (DCCIA) at the Hyatt Regency on Pune-Ahmednagar Road on Thursday December 8.

“India is now the fifth largest economy and people in the world are saying that it may become the third largest economy. India is progressing rapidly
and I’m confident that people in the government are working to provide more services to industrialists,” the Governor said.

The Governor cited the example of infrastructure coming up in the country, like roads and airports. He also batted for doing fair business.

Over 200 delegates and DCCIA members across the country, including Chairman Rathin Sinha, Vice Chairman HP Srivastava, Secretary VL Malu, Treasurer Sunil Gupta & Executive Committee member Mukul Varshney along with their CSR partners, members of the Rotary Club of Poona Downtown, were present on the occasion.

The Governor presented ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ to  Dr Prakash Dhoka, Managing Director, IMP Ltd for his outstanding contribution to industry and society.

Promil Aggarwal received the DCCIA Award for Excellence – Social Service for the late Surinder Aggarwal whose outstanding work in serving the underprivileged as well as in improving the traffic made a difference in the life of people.

Sadashiv Survase, Jt Director Industries Pune received the DCCIA Award for Excellence- Public Service for his enormous contribution for the cause of industry.

The DCCIA Award for Excellence – Best Industrialist was jointly conferred on Shrikant and Supriya Badve in recognition of their undying leadership in creating and nurturing ‘Badve Engineering’ group.

The Award for Excellence – Best HR Practices was bagged by M/S KION India Pvt Ltd while FMCG major M/s ITC Limited won DCCIA Pune Award for Excellence – Best Safety Practices.

In their joint address, Rathin Sinha and HP Srivastava said that ever since 2002, when this Award was instituted, DCCIA  has been recognizing the exemplary work done by individuals, both in the government and private sectors, to not only motivate the individual but also to present role models to society.

The duo also shared details of CSR work done by the Chamber with the help of members, to support migrant workers and others from underprivileged sections of society whose lives were highly impacted due to COVID lockdown.

The DCCIA with support from Rotary Club Pune Downtown (RCPD) provided free Oxygen Concentrators to the needy and the Chamber was first to vaccinate over 20,000 workers in Pune Industrial Belt, they added.

The Chamber signed eight new MOUs with various reputed Chamber of Commerce and Institutions for the benefit of its member industries. Going forward, the Chamber is in the process of adding a new sub-committee for “Women Entrepreneurs & Start ups”.
