Inauguration of Manish Nagar ‘RUB’ by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
Nagpur, 28th January 2025: The connectivity issue of Manish Nagar has persisted for the past 20-25 years. To resolve this, a flyover was constructed in the area. However, to further address the traffic problem, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, conceptualized a second connectivity project in the form of the ‘RUB’ (Railway Under Bridge). This will significantly help reduce traffic issues in the region, stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The inauguration of the Railway Under Bridge in the Somalwada (Manish Nagar) area, which will provide relief to local residents from traffic congestion, was carried out by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister of State for Finance Ashish Jaiswal, Minister of State for Public Works (excluding public undertakings) Indranil Naik, MLA Kripal Tumane, Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar, and Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhary were present.
This was an extremely challenging project. Thanks to the efforts of Maha Metro and other stakeholders, this connectivity has been established. Soon, a third connectivity project linking Manish Nagar will also be implemented in the area, said Chief Minister Fadnavis.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari added, “We had built one underpass earlier, but it didn’t fully resolve the problem. Therefore, a new underpass location was identified, and the project was handed over to Maha Metro. Now, the Maharashtra Government has approved a third flyover, which will connect directly near Hotel Radisson. This will make commuting easier for residents of Manish Nagar, Besa, and Beltarodi in the future.”
About the Somalwada (Manish Nagar) Railway Under Bridge:
The total cost of the Somalwada (Manish Nagar) RUB project is ₹33.83 crore. The RUB is 190 meters long, 8 meters wide, and 4 meters high. It has been constructed on the busy Mumbai-Howrah and Delhi-Chennai railway routes. The under-bridge also includes a dedicated pedestrian path.
The RUB will enhance connectivity between the Manish Nagar area and Wardha Road. It will benefit thousands of residents from Manish Nagar, Besa, Ghogli, and Beltarodi. The underpass will eliminate issues caused by railway gates, ease traffic congestion, and provide smooth access to Wardha Road for Manish Nagar residents. Additionally, it will save time during travel.
