Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi Succumbs to Cancer
Patna, 14th May 2024: Senior BJP leader Sushil Modi passed away on Monday evening at Delhi’s All-India Institute of Medical Sciences after battling cancer. The 72-year-old had been receiving treatment in the ICU at AIIMS for the past month. Sushil Modi, a prominent figure in Bihar politics and a former Deputy Chief Minister, had withdrawn from the ongoing Lok Sabha elections due to health concerns, which he announced on social media in early April.
His absence is deeply felt, particularly in Bihar, where he had wielded considerable influence over the party for three decades. Serving two terms as Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar between 2005 and 2020, Sushil Modi played a significant role in the state’s political landscape.
His passing was mourned by senior BJP leaders including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and Ravi Shankar Prasad, who highlighted his dedication to Bihar’s development and his contributions to the party. Other political figures, including former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Tejashwi Yadav, and Mamata Banerjee, also expressed their condolences, acknowledging Sushil Modi’s impact on Bihar politics and his commitment to public service.
