Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav Accuses Kejriwal of Shifting Blame Ahead of Elections

New Delhi, 27th December 2024: On Thursday, Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav accused AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal of attempting to salvage his tarnished reputation and shrinking support base by shifting blame to others in anticipation of an electoral loss.

Yadav pointed out that Kejriwal and his associates, Sanjay Singh, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendar Jain, were out on bail in connection with the liquor scam and money laundering cases, with the threat of re-arrest looming over them. His comments came on the same day AAP demanded that Congress be expelled from the INDIA bloc unless it took disciplinary action against its senior leaders. AAP alleged that Congress was collaborating with the BJP to undermine its chances in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Yadav claimed that AAP was paying the price for acting as the BJP’s ally and that its credibility had reached a new low after Delhi Congress released a 12-point white paper exposing Kejriwal’s alleged corruption. “The paper fully revealed Kejriwal’s betrayal and corruption, which disappointed those who had trusted him for a transparent government,” he said.

He also highlighted that the Delhi government’s departments had issued warnings to the public, stating that Kejriwal’s promises for women and senior citizens lacked cabinet approval. Yadav accused AAP of defrauding people by collecting personal information under the pretence of registering them for these schemes.

Yadav further claimed that Kejriwal, who had been brought into Delhi’s political scene by the BJP and RSS under the guise of activist Anna Hazare, now faced opposition from his former allies—something Congress could not be blamed for. He reiterated the Delhi Congress’ stance that Kejriwal posed a danger to the people of Delhi, especially after his arrest on charges of corruption.

During his Delhi Nyay Yatra, Yadav stated that people expressed regret over Congress’s alliance with the “corruption-tainted” AAP in the Lok Sabha elections. Many felt that had Congress contested alone, its candidates would have emerged victorious.

He also pointed to AAP’s failure in Haryana, where its candidates lost security deposits in 99% of the seats, despite heavy campaigning by prominent leaders.
