Congress President Kharge Takes Aim at PM Modi: Accuses BJP of Exploiting Religion for Political Gains
Thoubal, 15th January 2024: Rahul Gandhi, former Congress president, has kickstarted the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, a monumental journey spanning 6,713 km from Manipur to Maharashtra. The two-month-long yatra, passing through 15 states and 100 Lok Sabha constituencies, aims to build a harmonious and equitable society in contrast to what Gandhi perceives as the BJP’s politics of violence, hatred, and monopoly.
During a public meeting in Thoubal, Rahul Gandhi criticized the BJP for its divisive politics and expressed solidarity with Manipur, which he sees as a victim of the BJP’s policies. The yatra, symbolizing a commitment to inclusive governance, will conclude in Mumbai on March 20-21.
Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress president, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of exploiting the Ayodhya’s Ram Temple issue for electoral gains. Kharge emphasized the need to separate religion from politics, cautioning against using faith for political motives. The Congress has declined an invitation to attend the upcoming Ram Temple consecration ceremony.
Rahul Gandhi highlighted the pressing challenges facing India, including economic monopolies, rising unemployment, and social injustices. Stressing the need for a vision that promotes harmony, equity, and brotherhood, Gandhi aims to engage with people along the yatra, understanding their concerns to craft a vision for a more inclusive and just India.
After initiating the yatra, Rahul Gandhi made a symbolic stop at a tea stall in Lamjing Bazar, underscoring the importance of connecting with ordinary citizens. This gesture reflects his commitment to understanding the pulse of the nation and addressing the concerns of the common people.
