Congress Elects Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot As Their Presidential Candidate
New Delhi, 14th September 2022: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has been elected as the presidential candidate of the Congress party. There are reports that state that Shashi Tharoor or candidates belonging to the G-23 can contest the elections against the Rajasthan Chief Minister. If such a situation arises, it will be the third instance of elections in the Congress party for the President. The ‘rebels’ have been nominated for the top post just two times. The two people were Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Purshottam Das.
Ashok Gehlot had an upper hand since he has consistently been elected as the CM of Rajasthan. His achievements are very well known. Moreover, the most important factor that comes out is that Ashok Gehlot is close with all the three core leaders, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, of the Indian National Congress.
There are rumours that Ashok Gehlot could file his nomination between 24th to 30th September. Another question that arises is if Gehlot files his nomination, who would be the next Chief Minister of Rajasthan? A name that comes on the front is Sachin Pilot. Sachin Pilot has been in talks, but the current Rajasthan CM will choose his successor on his own.
