Chattisgarh: Chattisgarh Government Brings Back Old Pension Scheme As Promised Earlier
Raipur, 31st December 2022: On Friday (December 30), officials said that the employees of the Chhattisgarh government have the choice of choosing between the old pension plan and the new one, but those who began working for the government after April 1, 2022, will be required to participate in the old pension plan.
According to the government’s statement, “Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel presided over the cabinet meeting where the decision was made. It was determined during the cabinet meeting to introduce the OPS by offering employees who were appointed after November 1, 2004, and before April 2022, the option.”
From April 1, 2022, government employees will be regarded as members of the Chhattisgarh General Provident Fund, and from November 1, 2004, or later through March 31, 2022, employee contributions made to the NPS account and the dividends earned thereon will be paid to government employees following NPS regulations.
Only after depositing the state government’s contribution and any profit received thereon would employees be eligible for the old pension plan.
To choose between remaining under NPS or obtaining the benefits of the previous pension plan, government employees must sign an affidavit that has been notarized. This choice shall be final and binding.
Earlier this year, during the Assembly’s budget session, Mr. Baghel declared that his administration will bring back the previous pension program.
