BJP Signals Intent to Contest Thane Lok Sabha Seat, Asserts District’s Significance
Thane, 20th April 2024: Thane: BJP MLC Pravin Darekar has asserted Thane district’s significance within the party and hinted at the possibility of a BJP candidate contesting the Thane Lok Sabha seat. Speaking to the media following his visit to the newly inaugurated divisional office of the party, Darekar emphasized the BJP’s historical presence and recent growth in the district, crediting veteran leaders and dedicated workers for its progress.
Highlighting the contributions of stalwarts like Rambhau Mhalgi and Ram Kapse, Darekar underscored the efforts of grassroots workers and local leaders in solidifying the party’s support base. While expressing the party’s desire to field a candidate for the Thane seat, he affirmed that the ultimate decision rests with the Mahayuti leadership, expected to be made shortly.
Darekar reiterated the commitment of BJP workers to support any candidate selected, affirming their dedication to securing victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Amidst ongoing speculation, fueled by similar sentiments expressed by other BJP leaders, discussions have emerged regarding the party’s potential strategy to contest the Thane seat, potentially challenging the incumbent Shiv Sena. Notably, figures like former MP Sanjeev Naik and MLA Sanjay Kelkar have begun actively engaging with citizens, suggesting a concerted effort to consolidate BJP’s presence in the region.
