BJP Appoints Mohan Yadav as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal, 11th December 2023: After the historic victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh (MP), the suspense over the Chief Minister’s name concluded after eight days. The BJP announced Mohan Yadav as the new Chief Minister of MP on Monday. The decision was made during the legislative party meeting, where Mohan Yadav’s name was unveiled. He has secured victory in the MLA elections for three consecutive terms.
Mohan Yadav, the newly appointed Chief Minister, represents the Ujjain South constituency. In the recent elections, he defeated his nearest rival, Congress candidate Chetan Premnarayan Yadav, by 12,941 votes. Yadav, closely associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has been an influential leader within the BJP. He served as the Minister of Higher Education of Madhya Pradesh in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Government.
Commencing his political journey in 1984 by joining the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Mohan Yadav has been an active member of the RSS. His political career includes chairing the Ujjain Development Authority from 2004 to 2010 and heading the MP State Tourism Development Authority from 2011 to 2013. Yadav has been an MLA since 2013, and after being re-elected, he assumed the role of Minister of Higher Education in 2019.
Born on March 25, 1965, in Ujjain, Mohan Yadav holds a diverse educational background with degrees in B.Sc., L.L.B., M.A. in Political Science, M.B.A., and Ph.D. Yadav, aged 58, is the father of two sons and a daughter.
