Amit Shah Meets Maharashtra CM and Deputy CM Ahead of Assembly Elections

Mumbai, 10th September 2024: Ahead of Maharashtra’s assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at Mumbai’s airport on Monday. Shah also visited several Ganesh pandals, including Lalbaugcha Raja and Bandra West, where he was joined by local leaders.

While details of the meeting were not officially disclosed, sources indicate that Shah assured Shinde and Pawar of a “respectful” seat allocation for the Mahayuti coalition partners in the upcoming elections, expected in November. Shinde leads the Shiv Sena, and Pawar heads the Nationalist Congress Party, both allies of the BJP in the ruling coalition.

During his two-day visit to Mumbai, Shah attended a documentary release function, met with key BJP members, and performed puja at Ganesh idols at Fadnavis’ residence and Shinde’s official bungalow. NCP chief Sharad Pawar also visited the Lalbaugcha Raja pandal, accompanied by his family, seeking strength to advocate for farmers and common citizens. BJP MLC Pravin Darekar criticized Pawar’s visit, suggesting it was politically motivated.
