Amidst Investigation On Liquor, LG Of Delhi Seeks Another Report From Chief Secretary About Manish Sisodia
New Delhi, 26th August 2022: The LG of Delhi has requested a report from the Chief Secretary regarding the Vigilance Department’s 2.5-year delay in acting upon the CVC probe report regarding the addition of new courses in public schools.
The troubles of the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi do not seem to be abating. After the excise policy issue, now the government seems to be in trouble with the construction of additional classrooms in government schools in Delhi.
Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has sought a report from the Chief Secretary of Delhi on the delay of 2.5 years on the part of the Vigilance Department in taking action on the inquiry report of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) in the construction of additional classrooms in schools.
The report of the CVC inquiry stated that gross irregularities and procedural lapses were found in the construction of the projects. A report was sent by CVC to the Vigilance Secretary, Government of Delhi on August 17, seeking comments for further investigation and action.
CBI investigation going on in the Excise Policy case:
Earlier, a CBI probe into allegations of alleged corruption and bribery in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy was recommended by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, following which the policy was withdrawn by the Delhi government in July this year.
After this, the CBI named 15 other people and institutions including Manish Sisodia in an FIR registered in this regard. The CBI had also raided 31 places including Sisodia’s house last Friday.
