West Bengal Panchayat Elections Just like Russia-Ukraine War: BJP Secretary Agnimitra Paul

Kolkata, 15th June, 2023: Agnimitra Paul, Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has compared the current scenario in West Bengal to the Russia-Ukraine war. She stated that if the centre does not send the military to the state, it could lead to rivers of blood flowing in the state. Additionally, she also requested the resignation of the state’s Chief minister, Mamata Banerjee.

Panchayat elections are set to take place in West Bengal on July 8, but tensions between political parties, particularly the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), have been rising.

In Bankura, TMC and BJP workers clashed. In this context, Agnimitra Paul, the state BJP secretary, has drawn a parallel between the current scenario in West Bengal and the Russia-Ukraine war.

“Only industry right now in West Bengal is of bombs and ammunition…as we have seen in Midnapore, Khagragorh, in Asansol in my assembly”, stated Paul in a recent interview with news agency ANI.

She thus urged the Election Commission of India to ensure fair elections in the state and to deploy central forces to that end to restore people’s faith in the state’s democracy that is currently dwindling.
