New Delhi, 6th July 2024: The upcoming Union Budget for the financial year 2024–25 is scheduled to be presented in the Lok Sabha on July 23. The Budget session of Parliament is slated to run from July 22 to August 12.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju announced the session schedule via his official X handle, stating, “The Hon’ble President of India has approved the proposal to convene both Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session 2024, starting from July 22, 2024, to August 12, 2024 (subject to the exigencies of Parliamentary Business).”

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will introduce the comprehensive budget of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government. Previously, an interim budget was presented in Parliament on February 1, preceding the Lok Sabha elections.

With the Union Budget 2024 dates confirmed, there is considerable anticipation and speculation regarding potential announcements by the Finance Minister for taxpayers under the Modi 3.0 government. One anticipated measure includes a possible increase in the standard deduction limit, a move that many experts believe has been overdue.

According to Reuters, quoting government sources, the Centre is preparing to substantially raise subsidies for rural housing in the upcoming budget, aiming for an increase of up to 50% from last year to exceed US$6.5 billion.
