UP CM Yogi Adityanath Hits Back at Kejriwal, Calls Allegations a Desperate Opposition Tactic
New Delhi, 12th May 2024: In a recent exchange, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responded to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s comments regarding Prime Minister Modi’s potential retirement at the age of 75. Adityanath dismissed Kejriwal’s claims as desperate attempts by the opposition to grasp at straws in the face of their anticipated defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Adityanath underscored Prime Minister Modi’s unwavering commitment to advancing India’s prosperity, highlighting the widespread support he garners across the nation.
Addressing the opposition’s allegations, Adityanath stated that their propaganda has faltered in light of the overwhelming public endorsement of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. He emphasized that the opposition’s recourse to attacking Modi based on his age reflects their desperation in the electoral arena.
Earlier, Kejriwal had suggested that PM Modi’s retirement plan signaled a strategic move to pave the way for Home Minister Amit Shah’s ascendancy, sidelining figures like Yogi Adityanath post-election. Kejriwal drew attention to the BJP’s practice of retiring leaders after the age of 75, citing examples such as LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi. He speculated that a BJP-led government would first oust Adityanath and then install Amit Shah as Prime Minister.
Kejriwal’s insinuation that Amit Shah might not honor Modi’s commitments implies a rift within the BJP leadership and questions the motives behind Modi’s campaign rhetoric.
