Shiv Sainiks Attack Vehicle Of Shinde Faction MLA Santosh Bangar

Amravati, 27th September 2022: After the Supreme Court and the Election Commission, the Shiv Sena vs Shiv Sena fight has now reached the streets. Hingoli MLA Santosh Bangar was attacked allegedly by Uddhav Thackeray’s loyalists at Anjangaon Surji in Amravati on Sunday. Santosh Bangar belongs to the faction of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Amravati police on Monday arrested 10 people for attacking Bangar’s car. Santosh Bangar had to face the wrath of Shiv Sainiks when he was coming out from Devnath Devasthan Math at Anjangaon Surji on Sunday, along with his wife and sister.

Enraged Shiv Sainiks allegedly tried to stop his vehicle and attacked his convoy raising slogans of ’50 khoke kurete ok’. MLA Santosh Bangar is the latest Shiv Sena MLA to join the rebel Shinde faction. He had decided to stay with Uddhav Thackeray after Eknath Shinde’s rebellion but suddenly changed his loyalty and joined the Shinde camp.

It is said that Bangar had gone to Devnath Math on Sunday afternoon, but after getting information about his visit, Shiv Sainiks of the Tehsil unit gathered at Lala Chowk. As Bangar’s convoy left, the Shiv Sainiks raised slogans of ’50 khoke absolutely ok’ and also tried to attack his car. Due to this incident, tension spread for some time in Anjangaon Surji.

Anjangaon Police Inspector Deepak Wankhede said that the police booked about 20 Shiv Sainiks under Indian Penal Code sections 353 (preventing a public servant from discharge of duty), 143 (unlawful assembly), 341 (wrongful restraint of person) and Maharashtra Police Act. The offence has been registered under various sections, including section 135 (punishment for breach of rule).

Wankhede said senior Shiv Sena leader from the region and city Sena chief Abhijit Akotkar and former tehsil army chief Mahendra Dipte, along with nine other Shiv Sainiks, were involved in the attack. The police have arrested him and said that they are on the lookout for other Shiv Sena workers who were involved in the attack.

Responding to the incident, Bangar retorted saying, “If my wife and sister were not with me, they would have seen what Santosh Bangar was. I went there for darshan. My wife and sister were with me. At that time, a group of miscreants came there and tried to attack me and damage my vehicle.”
