Sharad Pawar Projects MVA to Win 235 Seats in Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Challenges Mahayuti’s Potential
Mumbai, 11th July 2024: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have claimed that Mahayuti will secure 200 out of the 288 seats in the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections. However, Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) leader Sharad Pawar has countered with a bold assertion. Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Sharad Pawar expressed confidence that MVA will secure 235 seats, indirectly suggesting that the Mahayuti would only manage 53 seats.
Meanwhile, former BJP MLA from Udgir, Latur Sudhakar Bhalerao, along with numerous activists, publicly joined the NCP at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Mumbai today. Sharad Pawar’s direct announcement regarding the expected electoral success caused a stir in political circles.
Pawar stated, “MVA achieved significant success in the Lok Sabha elections, winning 30 seats in Maharashtra. The NCP alone secured eight out of the ten seats it contested, indicating a strong momentum heading into the assembly elections with a projected 235 out of 288 seats.”
He continued, “Given the current political climate in Maharashtra, we must effect change. It is the collective responsibility of citizens and activists to transform our Maharashtra State’s political landscape and improve the lives of ordinary people. We are committed to forming a capable government that represents all sections of society, including farmers, entrepreneurs, traders, and state employees.”
In the Lok Sabha elections, MVA won 30 seats statewide, compared to Mahayuti’s 18 seats. Notably, the NCP under Sharad Pawar’s leadership secured a resounding victory, winning eight out of ten contested seats. This electoral preference highlights the growing influence of Sharad Pawar’s faction within Mahavikas Aghadi, suggesting a strong appeal for the upcoming assembly elections as well.
