Rahul Gandhi Urges Congress Members to Avoid Derogatory Language Towards Smriti Irani

New Delhi, 12th July 2024: On Friday, prominent Congress leader Rahul Gandhi urged party members to avoid using derogatory language and being hostile towards former BJP minister Smriti Irani. He emphasized that demeaning others is a sign of weakness rather than strength.

In a post on ‘X’, Rahul stated, “Winning and losing are part of life. I request everyone to avoid derogatory language and unkind behaviour towards Smriti Irani or any other leader.”

He further noted, “Humiliating and insulting people reflects weakness, not strength.”

Smriti Irani, who defeated Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 elections, was recently beaten by Congress’ Kishori Lal Sharma in Amethi during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

While Rahul did not specify the context for his remarks, some supporters had made negative comments about Irani on social media.

In response, BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya criticized Rahul’s message, calling it “the most disingenuous message ever.” Malviya remarked, “After sending Congress leaders to attack the woman who defeated him in Amethi and exposed his arrogance, this is quite ironic. This rhetoric doesn’t change the fact that Smriti Irani forced him to abandon Amethi.”

Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot supported Rahul’s call for civility, stating, “Humility, respect, empathy, and dignity are values we must uphold. I wish more people would learn from Rahul Gandhi.”
