Pune Rural Police dismantle illicit liquor production In Uruli Kanchan Area

Pune, 27th February 2024: In a swift and decisive operation, Pune Rural Police have demonstrated their commitment to tackling illegal activities by dismantling an illicit liquor operation near a canal in Sortapwadi village, Shindawne, under the jurisdiction of Uruli Kanchan Police Station.
Acting on information about an illicit liquor production unit operating near the canal in Shindewadi Village by Inspector Shankar Patil, He immediately mobilized a team, including API Sudhir Padule, PSI Pramod Nawle, and Constables Mahendra Gaikwad, Ranjit Nikam, Sachin Jagtap, Manisha Kutwal, and Pramod Gaikwad, for a raid on the location.
Upon arrival, the police found the illegal liquor production unit in operation and seized 5000 litres of raw materials and 525 litres of illicit country liquor, with a total value of Rs 242,550. The seized raw materials were promptly destroyed by the police. The accused, Kayadu Rathod, managed to flee the location before the police arrived. A case, numbered ’68/2024′, has been registered at Uruli Kanchan Police Station under IPC 328 and Section 65 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act 1949.
Simultaneously, when investigated further and acting on a reliable information, the police discovered a similar operation in Koregaon village. During the raid, the police apprehended the accused Rajendra Chaudhary and seized 350 litres of raw materials and 9015 litres of illicit country liquor, valued at Rs 645,050. The illicit liquor was cleverly stored at a nursery, disguised as chemicals required for plantation. A case numbered ’69/2024′ has been registered at Uruli Kanchan Police Station in this instance.
Pune Rural SP, Pankaj Deshmukh said, since assuming charge, he has mandated his team to curb all illegal activities within their respective police station limits. He emphasized the vigilance of the central LCB Team in the Pune Rural region and urged citizens to report any credible information related to illegal or criminal activities to their nearest police station without hesitation.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SP Pune Rural Police, Pankaj Deshmukh, Addl SP Baramati, Swapnil Jadhav, and SDPO Daund, Swaplil Jadhav.
Illegal liquor production poses a serious threat to public health and safety, and law enforcement agencies are committed to taking strict action against such activities. The crackdown on illicit country liquor production by Pune Rural Police marks a significant step towards curbing illicit liquor making operation in the region.
