PM Modi Needn’t Review Congress Manifesto, Asserts Assam CM in Response to Kharge’s Offer
Guwahati, 26th April 2024: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma responded to the Congress president’s statement by saying, “If Mallikarjun Kharge wants to join the BJP, he should go ahead and do so. There’s no hindrance.” He questioned the necessity for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to peruse the Congress manifesto, stating, “PM Modi is proficient in English, and your manifesto is available in both Hindi and English. Why the need for additional discussion?”
Sarma further emphasized, “If Kharge desires to switch to the BJP, he is welcome. I’m willing to personally accompany him if needed. Otherwise, why should there be any meeting between him and the PM?”
In a letter addressed to PM Modi, Kharge expressed his willingness to elucidate the essence of the Congress Nyay Patra, designed for the welfare of the Indian populace. This communication came in response to PM Modi’s critique of the Congress manifesto.
Kharge’s missive, shared by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on social media, X, rebuffed PM Modi’s recent rhetoric, asserting, “Your recent speeches were predictable following BJP’s lacklustre performance in the initial election phase.”
Kharge reiterated Congress’s commitment to the welfare of the marginalized, underscoring their manifesto’s inclusive vision. He accused PM Modi’s administration of neglecting the impoverished and marginalized segments of society, contrasting it with Congress’s avowed dedication to all strata of society.
