Outstanding Response For LJP’s Mammootty-Starrer ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ At IFFK
Thiruvananthapuram, 15th December 2022: Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ received an excellent response at the International Film Festival of Kerala. The Mammootty-starrer is written by S Hareesh and produced by Mammootty and the Amen Movie Monastery. The film had its world premiere at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) 2022 in the International Competition category on Monday, 12th December.
Filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan called it “Lijo’s best film yet.”
“The movie does not fit into one of the genres we are used to. Lijo and Hareesh have woven a genre of itself and makes us travel into the worlds of James and Sundaram,” read a review of Forum Keralam (via Indian Express).
Lijo Jose Pellissery has often been hailed as the most talented new-age director in the industry. Some of his other movies include Jellikkettu, Amen, Angamaly Diaries, Churuli, and others. A reviewer has even equated Lijo’s reception at IFFK with South Korean film director Kim Ki-Duk’s at IFFK.
Two days ago, a conflict situation had broken out between volunteers and delegates outside Tagore theatre over seats for the movie. It even led to the Kerala police charging FIR against some delegates. Many say that the rush for the movie’s screening was something that no other film can claim.
