Mumbai, 9th August 2022: Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde formed the government with the support of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). In the expansion of the cabinet in the Maharashtra state, a total of 18 ministers, nine each from the Shinde group and the BJP, have been included in the cabinet.

But in the first phase of cabinet expansion, not a single woman minister is included. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule has directly mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed her displeasure on this issue via Twitter.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that women empowerment is essential for the progress of the country. For that they should not only be ‘home makers’ but they should also be ‘nation builders’. However, in the swearing-in ceremony of the cabinet in the state today, 18 ministers took the oath but women were not represented in it,” Supriya Sule openly expressed her displeasure that there was no woman minister in the first expansion of the cabinet.

A total of 18 ministers took oath in the cabinet expansion held at Raj Bhavan. Tanaji Sawant, Uday Samant, Sandipan Bhumre, Dada Bhuse, Abdul Sattar, Deepak Kesarkar, Shambhuraj Desai, Sanjay Rathod, Gulabrao Patil took oath from the Shinde group.

On the other hand, BJP has given opportunities to Girish Mahajan, Chandrakant Patil, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Suresh Khade, and Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Atul Save, Ravindra Chavan, Vijaykumar Gavit, Mangalprabhat Lodha in the new cabinet. However, not a single woman minister has been included in the list either from the Shinde group or the BJP. Supriya Sule has expressed her displeasure on Twitter.
