No Need To Be Afraid Of Cancer, Many People Have Defeated It: PM Narendra Modi
New Delhi, 24th October 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center in Mohali, Punjab. After the inauguration of the 2,600-bed Amrita Hospital in Faridabad, PM Narendra Modi directly reached Punjab and attended the inauguration program of the hospital. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann was also present on this occasion.
The hospital has a facility of 300 beds. Apart from this, all the technical facilities required for the treatment of cancer are also provided here. It has been prepared by Tata Memorial Center with a funding of Rs 660 crore. Apart from Punjab, this hospital will provide great facilities to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttarakhand.
Addressing the inaugural program, PM Narendra Modi said, ‘’We do not need to panic about cancer. I know a lot of people who have overcome it.” He said that whatever things would be needed in the fight against cancer, would be provided by the government. The Prime Minister said that an endeavour to establish at least one medical college in every district of the country is on. He said that before 2014 there were less than 400 medical colleges in the country, but since then, 200 new medical colleges have been established across the country in just eight years.
PM Narendra Modi said that the government is focusing on six points in the health sector. These are preventive healthcare facilities even in villages, increasing the number of medical colleges and paramedics in each district. Apart from this, the expansion of technology and availability of medicines at low cost is also on the agenda. The hospital built in Mohali will have multiple facilities, including MRI, mammography, and digital radiography. With this, people will not have to wander for treatment and related tests. In states like Punjab and Haryana, the demand for cancer care hospitals was present for a long time.
