NCP(SP) Leaders Exchange Remarks, Sparking Internal Concerns

Mumbai, 17th June 2024: Following recent discussions about organizational matters within the NCP(SP), MLA Rohit Pawar expressed his readiness to assume responsibilities within the party, highlighting the need for stronger operational efficiency across its units.

Speaking during the party’s foundation day event in Ahmednagar last week, Rohit Pawar and state party chief Jayant Patil indirectly exchanged remarks in their speeches, causing concern among NCP(SP) leaders and members.

Addressing the issue on Monday, Rohit Pawar stated, “During my travels across the state, many people express interest in working with our party, but due to my lack of an organizational role, I am unable to accommodate them. I have discussed this with Pawar Saheb, who also acknowledges the situation. I am prepared to undertake any organizational responsibilities entrusted to me by Sharad Pawar, Jayant Patil, and Supriya Sule, and I am optimistic about assuming a new role.”

The MLA from Karjat-Jamkhed noted discrepancies in the performance of various party units, suggesting that while the parent body, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Sharad Pawar, operates effectively on the ground, units like the youth and student wings require strengthened efforts.

“If assigned an organizational role, I will bring greater vigor to the tasks I am already engaged in, despite lacking an official position within the party,” Pawar remarked, indicating an interest in leadership within the party’s youth wing. “I have no intention of leading the main body, which Jayant Patil handles adeptly,” he clarified.

Regarding his earlier public remarks in Ahmednagar about organizational issues, Rohit Pawar clarified that his comments were not aimed at any individual but rather addressed the overall functioning and structure of the party. “My thoughts echo those of many workers, and Jayant Patil echoed similar sentiments in his speech,” he added.

Pawar also criticized the party’s frontal organizations for not adequately addressing issues related to the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET), noting the importance of raising such concerns more vigorously.

In a separate claim, Rohit Pawar asserted that 18-19 MLAs from Ajit Pawar’s faction within the NCP are considering switching allegiances and are in contact with his group. However, he acknowledged the significance of the ongoing Budget Session, which influences decisions about returning to the fold. “It appears unlikely that this government will survive beyond the Budget Session, potentially leading to the collapse of the ruling alliance itself,” he speculated.
