Maharashtra: Sharad Pawar Forms Shadow Cabinet, 100-Day Task Force to Monitor Mahayuti Govt’s Performance

Mumbai, 1st March 2025: In a strategic move to keep the Maharashtra government under close scrutiny, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) chief Sharad Pawar has established a shadow cabinet to monitor the Mahayuti government’s governance across the state’s five revenue divisions. Additionally, a 100-day task force has been formed to assess the administration’s progress across various sectors.

The announcement came a day after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reviewed his government’s 100-day action plan. Pawar convened a meeting with key party leaders to discuss restructuring efforts following the party’s performance in the recent assembly elections. The meeting also focused on devising a strategy for upcoming civic and zilla parishad elections.

Senior party figures, including Jaiprakash Dandegaonkar, Shashikant Shinde, Jitendra Awhad, Rajesh Tope, Rohit Pawar, Eknath Khadse, and Harshawardhan Patil, have been assigned responsibility for different districts to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence. These leaders are expected to tour their respective regions, engage with party workers, and bring fresh leadership into the organizational framework.

An NCP (SP) leader explained the delegation of responsibilities: “Rajesh Tope and Jaiprakash Dandegaonkar will oversee Marathwada, Anil Deshmukh and Shingane will focus on Vidarbha, while Jitendra Awhad and Sunil Bhusara have been assigned the Konkan region. Former minister Harshawardhan Patil will take charge of Western and North Maharashtra.”

The move signals Pawar’s intent to keep a watchful eye on the government’s policies and implementation strategies while simultaneously rebuilding and energizing his party ahead of upcoming local body elections.
