Maharashtra: MBBS Student Elected As Sarpanch Of Village In Sangli
Sangli, 21st December 2022: A young foreign returnee who studied medicine in Georgia has come to Maharashtra and become a sarpanch. Yashodhara Mahendrasinh Shinde has been elected as Sarpanch in the Vaddi Gram Panchayat elections in Sangli District.
In this election, Shinde’s panel has won unilaterally and candidates have been elected on all seats. The highly educated candidate, Shinde, has been elected for the Sarpanch post.
Vaddi is a village of about 5,000 people in the Sangli district. This village is near Miraj city. Yashodhara is studying MBBS (fourth year) at a university in Georgia. She became a candidate for the post of Sarpanch, raising the issue of development in the village panchayat elections. She campaigned for the election by questioning authorities regarding the necessities and facilities in the village.
She contested the election with the vision that village society should become the village she saw abroad. She expresses the hope that the model of development should be developed in villages.
Yashodhara was pursuing her MBBS (fourth year) at New Vision University, Georgia, USA. However, she left education and entered politics for the development of the village. On the occasion of the Gram Panchayat elections, she started campaigning for the post of Sarpanch.
Shinde, who left higher education abroad and returned with a passion for village development, is becoming a role model for the new generation to enter politics.
“I have spent considerable years in the village and know about the issues here. As far as education is concerned, I will see how I can complete the course”, she told mediapersons.
