Maharashtra BJP Makes History with 1.5 Crore Primary Member Registrations in Record Membership Drive

Mumbai, 18th April 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a historic milestone by registering over 1.5 crore primary members and more than 1.34 lakh active members during its ongoing membership drive, marking one of the largest political membership campaigns in the state. BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh congratulated the Maharashtra unit for this unprecedented organisational success, highlighting the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and Working President Ravindra Chavan in steering the drive to success.

The party aims to complete the formation of one lakh booth committees by 22nd April, with 70 % already established. Each booth committee consists of 12 members, which translates to a mobilised force of approximately 12 lakh active workers committed to building a developed Maharashtra under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Fadnavis. Arun Singh praised the internal democracy and collective decision-making process within the BJP, emphasising the dedication of party workers and leaders who have actively contributed to strengthening the party’s grassroots presence.

State Working President Ravindra Chavan noted that since January 2025, BJP workers and leaders have been conducting door-to-door campaigns to achieve the 1.5 crore primary membership target. So far, nearly 1.4 lakh active members have been enrolled, with efforts ongoing to reach a goal of 3 lakh active members. The party is also preparing for organisational elections, with 1,196 mandal presidents set to be elected under the supervision of appointed observers on 20th April. Following these elections, the selection process for new district presidents will commence on 22nd April, with observers assigned for each district.

In response to a query about a controversial land transaction involving Robert Vadra, BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh confirmed that an investigation will be conducted into the deal where Vadra reportedly bought land for Rs 7 crore and sold it back to the same company four months later for Rs 58 crore, highlighting concerns over the sharp increase in land value.
