Hemant Soren to Take Oath as Jharkhand Chief Minister on Thursday
Ranchi, 4th July 2024: Hemant Soren, the executive president of JMM, is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand at Raj Bhavan on Thursday, according to an official announcement. This decision follows discussions among coalition partners at Soren’s residence, as confirmed by Rajesh Thakur, the president of Congress’ state unit.
Governor C P Radhakrishnan will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Hemant Soren at 5 pm at Raj Bhavan, the official added.
Earlier in the day, the JMM had announced that Soren would assume office on July 7, after Governor Radhakrishnan extended an invitation to form the government in the state. Subsequently, the coalition led by JMM finalized the decision for the swearing-in ceremony on Thursday.
Champai Soren resigned as Chief Minister on Wednesday, paving the way for Hemant Soren to stake his claim to form the government despite being on bail in a money laundering case.
A delegation representing the JMM-led alliance, including Congress state president Rajesh Thakur, RJD minister Satyanand Bhokta, CPI(ML)-L MLA Vinod Singh, and Kalpana Soren, MLA from Gandey and Hemant Soren’s wife, met Governor Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.
