Help Go Paperless: Get Discounts On Electricity Bills, MSEDCL’s Appeal To Take Advantage Of Go Green Scheme

Mumbai, 13th December 2022: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently announced that the e-office system will start on 1st April and focus on paperless transactions. In that direction, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has already started work on the matter of bills.
The Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Singhal appealed that electricity consumers should help save the environment by taking advantage of the Go Green scheme and getting a discount of Rs 10 on every bill.
He informed that in MSEDCL’s Go Green scheme, if customers opt for paperless bills sent by email instead of printed paper bills, MSEDCL will stop sending paper bills, and a discount of Rs 10 per bill will be given.
He further explained that the Chief Minister has given the message of the e-office system. Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Devendra Fadnavis focus on environmental protection. An e-office system focuses on paperless work by using information technology instead of using actual paper. If electricity consumers take advantage of the Go Green discount, paper bills will be reduced, paperless work will be promoted, and the environment will be protected.
So far, 3.56 lakh customers have benefited from the Go Green scheme. Customers who want to take advantage of this scheme can go to the website of MSEDCL and register by filling in the details of the customer number and billing unit. Registration can also be done through MSEDCL’s mobile app.
An OTP number is sent to the registered customer. This ensures that registration is done by the right customer. A link is then sent to the customer on the email id provided by them. After clicking on the link to verify, the process is complete.
From the next bill onwards, the customer will be sent his bills by email, and paper-printed bills will be discontinued. The customer can take a printout of the emailed bill whenever he wants. Along with that, SMS is also being sent to all the customers giving regular information about their bills.
Pune is at the forefront among the customers availing of the Go Green scheme. 89,936 customers have benefited from this scheme in this circle. It is followed by Kalyan- 40,144, Bhandup- 34,917, Nashik- 33,141, and Baramati- 26,398. MSEDCL has 2.08 crores of domestic customers in the state.
