Congress Mocks PM Narendra Modi’s Podcast Appearance, Calls It Damage Control
New Delhi, 11th January 2025: On Friday, the Congress Party mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his debut podcast appearance with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath on the “People by WTF” channel.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized the interview, claiming it was an attempt at damage control after Modi’s controversial statement eight months ago about his “non-biological” identity. Ramesh posted on X, “This from a man who proclaimed his non-biological status just eight months ago. This is damage control.”
During the podcast, Modi reflected on a speech he gave during his tenure as Gujarat’s chief minister, stating, “When I became CM, I said I would leave no stone unturned in my efforts. I promised not to do anything for myself and acknowledged that, as a human, I might make mistakes, but not with bad intentions. These became my life’s mantras.” He added, “I may have expressed something insensitively. Mistakes happen, I am human, not a god.”
Modi had previously claimed in a Lok Sabha interview during his campaign that he was “not biological” but sent by God, a remark that sparked widespread debate, with Congress dubbing him “non-biological” and “divine.”
The Prime Minister, who regularly hosts ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and appears in television interviews, ventured into podcasting for the first time during this appearance.
