Amit Shah to Unveil BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ for Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections
Srinagar, 6th September 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to unveil the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Sankalp Patra’ (manifesto) for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections on Friday.
During his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Shah will present the manifesto at approximately 3:30 pm at a Jammu hotel, with senior party leaders in attendance.
This visit is pivotal for the BJP, which faces increasing challenges in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the assembly elections, including protests and defections following ticket denials.
On the first day, Shah will release the manifesto and later meet with party leaders and delegations of party workers. On Saturday, he will officially kick off the BJP’s campaign in Jammu with a rally in the city.
The BJP views Jammu, which has 11 assembly constituencies, as a key area. In the 2014 elections, the party secured nine of these seats, contributing to its total of 25 seats.
Security measures in Jammu have been enhanced in preparation for Shah’s visit, with multi-tier arrangements at key locations, including the BJP’s media centre at a hotel in Channi.
The BJP has released a list of four candidates, bringing the total to 51 candidates for the 90-member assembly elections, which will commence on September 18. The second phase is set for September 25, and the third phase on October 1, with results announced on October 8 alongside those of Haryana.
The campaign is expected to gain momentum with upcoming rallies by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP leaders across the Union Territory.
