Ajit Pawar: “Voters Are Not My Boss” as He Faces Pressure Over Local Issues in Baramati

Pune, 5th January 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday expressed frustration during a public event in Baramati, where his supporters presented him with numerous letters concerning various issues. Responding to the flood of requests, Pawar sharply remarked, “You voted for me, but that doesn’t mean you have become my boss. Have you made me a farm laborer now?”

Pawar, who spent the day attending multiple events in Baramati, also spoke about the local real estate market’s expansion. He acknowledged that the market had slowed down after his wife Sunetra’s loss in the Lok Sabha elections but had revived following his own victory in the Baramati Assembly elections.

“The real estate market in Baramati is picking up, but major developers from Mumbai and Pune have yet to enter. Once the purchasing power of the people here increases, we will see larger developers investing in the region,” Pawar stated.

Pawar also discussed how the local real estate market had been impacted by the political competition within his family. “After the Lok Sabha elections, some involved in real estate were uncertain about the outcome. However, I believe I won the assembly seat by a margin of over one lakh votes because people wanted me in the government. Once we formed the government, the real estate market in Baramati revived,” Pawar explained. He had defeated his nephew Yugendra in the assembly elections.

The Deputy CM further issued a stern warning to Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) officials, instructing them not to change the land status in Baramati from residential to commercial without his consent. “We designated certain plots for commercial purposes to attract industries and create local employment. However, MIDC officials cannot arbitrarily alter the status of any plot. Not a single plot’s status will be changed without my approval,” he emphasized.
