After Losing Assembly Elections Five Times, Will BJP Return To Theog Assembly Seat?
Shimla, 26th October 2022: There is no identity of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Theog assembly seat. In the last three decades, the BJP always faced defeat. Neither the BJP nor the Congress tasted victory in the 2017 assembly elections. Rakesh Singha of CPI(M) won the 2017 election.
He had defeated BJP’s Rakesh Verma, while Congress’s Deepak Rathore came third. However, the margin of defeat between Singha and Verma was only 1,983 votes. In the last assembly elections, the voting percentage was 42.73. Talking about the 2012 assembly elections, Vidya had won on a Congress ticket, while BJP candidate Rakesh Verma came second.
Theog assembly seat comes under Shimla. BJP’s Suresh Kashyap is the MP in this seat. He defeated Dhani Ram Shandil of INC by 3,27,515. The Aam Aadmi Party-AAP has also fielded its candidate in the 2022 assembly elections. AAP has fielded Attar Singh Chandel in the electoral fray.
If political sources are to be believed, the 2022 assembly elections are going to be very interesting. A triangular contest is expected in the Chaupal assembly seat.
