Journey of KK Pathak: Resolute Officer Revamping Bihar’s Education System With Firm Governance
Patna, 29th November 2023: KK Pathak, widely known for his assertive disposition and commitment to reforming Bihar’s education sector, has been consistently making headlines in recent times. Ever since being entrusted with the responsibility of Principal Secretary of the Education Department by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Pathak has been visibly proactive in his approach.
Pathak’s resolute actions have also influenced the teaching community to steer towards the right path. He has maintained a vigilant eye on the presence of both students and teachers in schools, addressing various aspects from toilet facilities to infrastructural enhancements.
The stringent and disciplined image projected by KK Pathak is complimented by his commendable talent. He holds two significant degrees in his academic arsenal. Having graduated in Economics, he further pursued an M.Phil in the same field. His rank in the UPSC exams was within the top 40, showcasing his academic prowess.
KK Pathak was first posted in Katihar in 1990. His initial posting as a District Magistrate (DM) came in 1996. Subsequently, in 2005, upon Nitish Kumar’s tenure, Pathak was handed the responsibility of the Managing Director of the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority. He was also appointed as the CMD of the Bihar State Housing Board. However, in 2010, he moved to Delhi on central deputation, only to return to Bihar in 2015 due to Nitish Kumar’s request. In 2016, he was given a significant role in the liquor prohibition campaign.
In June 2023, KK Pathak was appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Bihar Education Department, following his transfer from the Prohibition and Excise Department. Upon his arrival in the Education Department, he initiated several impactful decisions, significantly impacting Bihar’s educational infrastructure.
His influential role was acknowledged by the Fame India Magazine – Asia Post 2021, where he was recognized as a prominent bureaucrat. His inclusion was attributed to his work ethic, organizational improvements, and swift actions.
Pathak’s father also held high-ranking positions in Bihar. His father, Major GS Pathak, served as the Principal Secretary in the Department of Minor Water Resources in Bihar.
