AAP Announces Arvind Kejriwal As Contender For 2024 Lok Sabha Elections
New Delhi, 20th August 2022: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has named its convener Arvind Kejriwal as a contender for the post of Prime Minister for the elections to be held in 2024. The party, which has given some indications in the past, has now openly said that only Kejriwal can become an alternative to Modi.
The party’s founding members and Rajya Sabha MPs Sanjay Singh, Raghav Jadha and Manish Sisodia have announced this.
According to political analysts, AAP’s announcement will be a relief to the BJP as the contest is already triangular, while Congress considers Rahul Gandhi, TMC Mamata Banerjee, JDU, and RJD Nitish Kumar as prime ministerial contenders.
Even if Mamta, and Nitish get united under the leadership of Congress, then the one-sided announcement of ‘AAP’ without any consultation with the opposition has decided that there will be at least three fronts in the contest.
In a press conference on Saturday, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said, “In Uttar Pradesh, Arvind Kejriwal used to say that he would form a government with full majority, used to say in Uttarakhand but could not open the account. The bails were forfeited.”
