Young Girl Starts Small Business with Support from Ladki Bahin Yojana; Earns Rs 10,000 in 10 Days
Mumbai, 14th September 2024: In the run-up to the assembly elections, the Mahayuti government launched the Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana in July 2024 to empower women across the state. Under this scheme, women receive financial assistance of ₹1,500 per month.
Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, payments for two months were deposited into the accounts of the beneficiaries. The Ladki Bahin Yojana is an ambitious initiative aimed at reaching a large number of women voters.
One such beneficiary, Pranali Barad, a recent college graduate, utilized the ₹3,000 deposited into her account to start a small business. She purchased trending Ghungroo Kadis—used during Ganeshotsav aarti—that she discovered on Instagram.
Initially, Pranali bought the Kadis for her own use, but when her neighbors inquired about them, she decided to create her own. Leveraging social media, she posted a reel on Instagram, which quickly attracted attention and led to multiple orders. Pranali expanded her sales to local markets such as Lalbagh Market, Gauri Shankar Market, and near Swami’s Matha.
In an interview with ABP Majha, Pranali shared that she invested ₹1,500 out of the ₹3,000 she received. With that, she bought the materials to make Ghungroo Kadis and earned ₹10,000 in just ten days.
Speaking about her entrepreneurial journey, Pranali said, “₹1,500 may not seem like a large amount, but it depends on how you invest it. This small investment can yield big returns.”
She encouraged other artists to take advantage of social media to showcase their talents and advised them to enter the market using online platforms for greater visibility.
