Pune: Congress Announces Ravindra Dhangekar As Candidate For Kasba By-Election
Pune, 6th February 2023: By-elections have been announced for the seat left vacant by the death of MLA Mukta Tilak of Kasba Assembly Constituency. Congress has finally announced the candidature of former corporator Ravindra Dhangekar. Dhangekar is going to file the nomination form today in a show of strength.
Although Congress has a Kasba constituency in Maha Vikas Aghadi, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), NCP claimed this constituency. But as per tradition, this constituency remained with Congress. Congress observer and MLA Sangram Thopte presented the proposal of names of aspirants in the State Congress meeting. Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole and other leaders discussed and finalized three names. These three names will be sent to Delhi, where one of the three names will be stamped. In this, the names of three were Ravindra Dhangekar, Kamal Vyavaye, and Balasaheb Dabhekar.
BJP announced the candidature of Hemant Rasane on Saturday. At the same time, there was a rumour that Dhangekar was nominated. In fact, in the last two days, the candidates have been announced by Congress, and there has been a debate over who should be nominated to Congress. Though Dhangekar’s name was decided, it was not announced due to internal disputes.
On Monday, the nomination form will be filled in the presence of party leaders, state president Nana Patole, Ashok Chavan, former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, and Sushil Kumar Shinde.
