NCP-Ajit Faction to Launch Jan Sanman Yatra on August 8 Ahead of Assembly Elections
Mumbai, 5th August 2024: Sunil Tatkare, Raigad MP and state president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, announced that the party will launch its statewide Jan Sanman Yatra on August 8, aiming to connect with voters ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Tatkare revealed that the yatra will commence in Nashik on Thursday. In western Maharashtra, it will start on August 15 and reach Mumbai by August 22. Additionally, the yatra will cover various regions of Vidarbha starting from Nagpur.
The primary goal of the yatra is to highlight the welfare schemes introduced and executed by the Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti government to the state’s populace, according to Tatkare.
He noted that 2 to 3 rallies will be organized in each constituency using a hybrid model, meaning that rallies will occur simultaneously across multiple locations in Maharashtra. These events will inform voters about the benefits of the state government’s initiatives for women, youth, farmers, Adivasis, and minorities. Tatkare emphasized that NCP-Ajit will engage with local Mahayuti leaders to ensure effective coordination.
This yatra is crucial for revitalizing the political fortunes of NCP-Ajit. In July, the party enlisted Naresh Arora, co-founder of political campaign management firm DesignBoxed, as its election strategist. Arora presented branding and strategy plans to NCP Ajit Pawar camp MLAs, including a “90-day plan” focusing on promoting Pawar’s state budget announcements.
MLAs were advised to disregard any misleading opposition narratives and focus on promoting and implementing development schemes. The party will also work on enhancing Ajit Pawar’s public image, emphasizing his administrative expertise, dependability, and commitment.
The campaign will feature digital and media efforts highlighting how Ajit Pawar has remained steadfast and effective despite the split from his uncle Sharad Pawar. The NCP faction aims for a 70 % success rate in the assembly elections, given its candidates, following a poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections.
In the recent Lok Sabha polls, the NCP contested four seats but won only the Raigad seat. Notably, NCP-Ajit lost in Baramati, where Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra Pawar ran against Supriya Sule of NCP (SP).
