MPSC Implements Revised Medical Test Process For Candidate Selection In Maharashtra
Pune, 28th June 2023: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has introduced significant changes to the medical test and selection procedure for candidates qualifying the pre-state examination and interview. Going forward, all candidates selected for the interview will undergo medical testing, and a list of recommended candidates will be prepared based on their medical qualifications.
The State Government’s General Administration Department has issued a Government Decision outlining these modifications. Previously, candidates were medically tested only after receiving recommendations from the final result. However, if a candidate is deemed medically unfit for the recommended post during the appointment process, they cannot be selected for another position. Furthermore, even if candidates possess the required marks for other posts, they would be eliminated from the selection process. To address these concerns, the procedure for medical examinations has been revamped, allowing the final recommendation to consider the medical reports of all candidates selected for interviews in the state service examination, considering the candidates’ preferred post priorities.
MPSC will arrange for the medical examination of all qualified candidates at designated locations, utilizing departmental medical boards. Candidates will receive their medical examination certificates online, along with necessary instructions from MPSC. The number of candidates scheduled for daily examination before the Medical Board will be determined by MPSC. In case a candidate wishes to appeal against their medical examination report, MPSC will provide a seven-day window for submitting online appeal applications.
The Government will establish an Appellate Medical Board at the Government Medical College in Mumbai, which will conduct examinations for candidates challenging their medical examination reports. MPSC will allow candidates to submit their preference order for the same cadre in which they qualify based on medical, physical, and educational criteria. This will be done considering the medical examination reports submitted by the Divisional Medical Board and the Appellate Board. It is worth noting that if the period of appointment exceeds one year from the time of the initial medical examination, recommended candidates will be required to undergo medical examination again before their appointment.
