Maratha Community Hunger Strike: Baramati Residents Rally for Republic Day Protest in Mumbai
Baramati, 19th January 2024: In a press conference held on Friday 16th January 2024, it was announced that a significant number of Maratha community members from Baramati city and Taluka are set to participate in a hunger strike beginning on Republic Day in Mumbai to voice their demands for Maratha reservation.
Manoj Jarange Patil will lead the hunger strike, scheduled at Azad ground in Mumbai on January 26. The press conference highlighted that to show solidarity, every village and ward in Baramati Taluka has organised ten to twelve four-wheeler vehicles and one tractor or tempo for goods.
A total of one and a half thousand four-wheeler vehicles and baggage tempos from Baramati Taluka are scheduled to depart from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Udyan at 7 a.m. on January 24. The convoy will head towards Sri Kshetra Morgaon after paying respects to the statue of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Once in Morgaon, participants from the surrounding areas will join, and the procession will continue towards Dehu Road.
Maratha Kranti Morcha, Baramati, will handle all the food arrangements for the community participating in the protest. Additionally, medical first aid materials will accompany those heading for the agitation. The protest, guided by Manoj Jarange Patil’s instructions, is intended to be conducted peacefully.
Community members from Baramati Taluka participating in the protest have committed not to return from the protest site without Jarange Patil’s order. It has been emphasized that individuals should not succumb to rumours from the time of departure until their return unless explicitly communicated by Manoj Jarange Patil himself.
