Man Arrested for Haryana Congress Worker’s Murder Admits to Crime
Chandigarh, 3rd March 2025: The individual arrested in connection with the murder of Haryana Congress worker Himani Narwal has admitted to the crime, revealing during police interrogation that they had been in a long-term relationship, according to sources. Sachin was apprehended in Delhi on Monday, two days after Himani’s body was discovered inside a suitcase near a bus stand in Rohtak.
During his arrest, police recovered Himani’s mobile phone from Sachin’s possession. A resident of Bahadurgarh, Haryana, Sachin alleged that Himani had extorted large sums of money from him and was demanding more, further accusing her of blackmailing him.
Sachin confessed that he killed Himani at her residence in Rohtak after growing frustrated over her repeated monetary demands. Himani, who lived in her ancestral home in Rohtak’s Vijay Nagar, gained public attention after photos of her walking with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra went viral.
According to police sources, the suitcase in which her body was found belonged to her residence. Sachin told investigators that after killing Himani, he placed her body inside the suitcase and abandoned it at the bus stand.
Himani’s family initially refused to perform her last rites until those responsible were apprehended. Following the arrest, her family demanded the death penalty for the accused.
“One suspect has been arrested, and we will cremate her (Himani Narwal) today. There are numerous rumors circulating in the media… We will get justice… We want the accused to receive the death penalty,” said Himani’s brother, Jatin.
Earlier, Himani’s mother, Savita, suggested that the murder might have involved someone within the party, as some Congress leaders were envious of her rapid rise. “It could be anyone in the party who was jealous of her progress, or it could be someone else,” she stated.
