Fadnavis Outlines BJP’s Plan for Maharashtra Polls After Delhi Meeting
Mumbai, 18th June 2024: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis outlined the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) preliminary roadmap for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections during discussions held in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Following a meeting of the state core committee with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda at the party headquarters, Fadnavis disclosed, “We have prepared a preliminary roadmap for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections.” Newly-appointed observers for Maharashtra, Bhupendra Yadav and Ashwini Vaishnav, along with national general secretaries Vinod Tawde and BL Santhosh, were also present.
The core committee, which included Fadnavis, State President Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mumbai Unit President Ashish Shelar, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Cabinet Ministers Sudhir Mungantiwar and Chandrakant Patil, former Union Minister Raosaheb Danve, and Party’s National Secretary Pankaja Munde, discussed various aspects related to the election strategy.
Addressing a press conference alongside Goyal, Fadnavis highlighted, “We reviewed the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections, identified challenges faced in various constituencies, and examined the vote percentage difference between the Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which is only 0.3 per cent. We deliberated on areas of strength, weaknesses, and the necessary corrective measures.” He added, “We are soon going to engage in discussions with our NDA partners to strategize and ensure victory in the upcoming assembly polls. The central leadership of the BJP is firmly supporting our efforts.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde convened a meeting on the contentious issue of reservation for the Maratha community amidst looming agitation threats from two communities – Marathas and Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Cabinet Minister Shambhuraje Desai, who recently intervened to persuade Manoj Jarange to withdraw his hunger strike scheduled for July 13, updated the CM on Jarange’s demands. Desai expressed optimism about finding a resolution before the agitation intensifies.
