Center Files Review Petition In SC Against Release Of Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Convicts
Delhi, 17th November 2022: The Central Government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court against the acquittal of the convicts in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. On Friday, November 11, the apex court ordered the release of six convicts, including Nalini and RP Ravichandran, serving life sentences.
While ordering the release of the convicts, the Supreme Court said that the Tamil Nadu government had earlier recommended the release of the killers to the governor. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has already ordered the release of Perarivalan, another convict in the case, in May.
