BJP Accuses Kejriwal of Neglecting Delhi’s Citizens, Claims He Prioritizes Luxurious Residence
New Delhi, 9th January 2025: Vishnu Mittal, General Secretary of Delhi BJP, launched a strong criticism of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of focusing on constructing a “sheeshmahal” (luxurious residence) while Prime Minister Narendra Modi works to uplift the poor.
“Kejriwal is busy building his ‘sheeshmahal,’ while PM Modi is constructing homes for the underprivileged,” Mittal said, stressing that Kejriwal has failed to fulfil his promises to the citizens of Delhi. He further added, “Kejriwal is on the defensive. Delhi’s people have already decided that they want a BJP government.”
Mittal’s remarks come as the BJP prepares for the upcoming Delhi elections. He mentioned that the ongoing Election Management Committee (EMC) meeting, which is expected to last four hours, involves 42 departments. “Our national president JP Nadda will be meeting with all the departments,” he said. He also confirmed that the BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) will meet on January 10 and that the list of candidates will be released by January 11.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar countered BJP’s accusations, calling them “false and baseless” regarding the Chief Minister’s residence.
“The BJP has been spreading misinformation about Arvind Kejriwal’s home. Why are they so rattled when the AAP offered to show what’s inside the CM’s residence and also the luxurious ‘Rajmahal’ the PM is building for himself?” Kakkar asked.
Her comments were in response to the BJP’s allegations that Kejriwal’s residence contained lavish features such as a mini bar, a swimming pool, and golden seats. “They have been spreading lies about a mini bar, a swimming pool, or golden seats. Now, we have requested both residences be opened to the public so everyone can see the lavishness built with taxpayer money, like the PM’s residence that cost ₹2750 crore during the Covid period,” Kakkar stated.
Kakkar also raised concerns about the transparency surrounding the renovation of Prime Minister Modi’s residence, which has been heavily criticized for its extravagant cost. She questioned why the public had not been allowed to view the property, insisting that taxpayers, who funded the construction, deserve to know what they were paying for.
“Let the taxpayers see what a ₹300 crore carpet looks like, or a ₹200 crore chandelier, or even diamond-studded toilet seats,” Kakkar demanded, referring to reports of extravagant features in the new PM’s residence.
