Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Granted Permission to Meet Delhi CM Kejriwal in Tihar Jail

New Delhi, 12 April, 2024: Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann has been granted permission to visit Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of Delhi in Tihar Jail. The meeting has been scheduled on April 15 and is expected to last for approximately two hours. The conference, which was originally scheduled for April 10, was rescheduled because of security concerns.

The decision was made following a security conference on Thursday that included personnel from Punjab, Delhi, and prison authorities. Punjab ADGP Security A.K. Pandey, DG Jail Sanjay Beniwal, DIG Rajiv Singh Parihar, and Delhi Police personnel were present.

On April 15, Bhagwant Mann and Kejriwal are scheduled to meet at midday in Jail Number 2 in Tihar. Sanjay Singh was also supposed to attend the April 10 meeting, but it was postponed due to security concerns.

Kejriwal has added Bhagwant Mann’s name to his list of people he plans to meet in jail. Kejriwal is presently being held under judicial custody till 15 April in relation to the Delhi liquor scandal. His private secretary, AAP leader Sandeep Pathak, his wife Sunita Kejriwal, and their two kids were already on this list.

Given the ongoing investigations into the spirits scam, the meeting between the two Chief Ministers is politically crucial. Discussions on a range of sociopolitical topics, alliance building tactics, and potential future political cooperation between their respective parties are expected to arise from it.
